| Advance Posterior Stabilized Total Knee
System

For nearly two decades, the major innovations
in posterior stabilized (PS) knee designs have taken place
at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City.
These innovations included the Insall/Burstein® I and
II, for years the most widely accepted PS knee systems in
the world. Yet despite the successful clinical history of
these designs, problems such as "patellar clunk"
and posterior tibial dislocation continue to be reported.
With improvement as the focal point of their mission, a group
of experienced physicians and engineers established four measurable
goals to improve upon the clinical success of the previous
posterior stabilized designs:
- Improve patellofemoral kinematics
- Reduce wear rate potential
- Increase resistance to posterior tibial dislocation
- Achieve at least 120o flexion in all sizes
